Evaluation Question 1: Use, Develop, Challenge Double Page Spread.

1. I have used a picture of myself at the top of the page, as an 'editors photo', I think it looks good, and it uses up black space, Kerrang haven't done this.

2. Kerrang have used all male models in there magazine. In my magazine, I have decided to use girls and boys to make it more uni-sex. It also gives variety, instead of having repetitive photos.

3. Kerrang has used lines to section the pages, I decided not to do this, as my magazine looks better without them. I don't have any free space in my magazine to do this anyway.

4. I have used Twitter and Facebook icons at the bottom, to make my magazine look more professional. Kerrang don't need to do this though, as Kerrang is a well known magazine already. I think the icons at the bottom look good, and they break up the red box.

5. I have also used a Subscription box, unlike Kerrang. This makes my magazine look more realistic, and stops the pictures at the bottom looking boring and repetitive, I have done this by covering part of the bottom left photograph.

1. In the Kerrang magazine, all 3 band members are in front of the masthead, but in mine, just the main model is in front of the masthead. I did this because I wanted there to be a clear main band member to the audience, and by blocking the head of the boys on the outside, the boy in the middle gains more authority and importance, and that is what I wanted to create.

2. When I saw the cracked effect on the masthead on the Kerrang magazine, I decided that I wanted to use elements of this, and have an effect rather than just a plain font. My masthead has a smudge effect on it to show it's 'rough around the edges', I think this relates to my audience, because the stereotypical rock magazine reader, is rough around the edges and rouged. 

3. In the Kerrang magazine, when I saw the list, I thought it looked like a really good idea. I decided to do the same, but unlike the one in Kerrang, I didn't write 'PLUS:' at the top, and I didn't use bullet points. I just did a simple list but made it longer than the one in Kerrang. The one on Kerrang was on a plain black background, so I think it needed the extra bits like the bullet points and the 'PLUS:', but because mine was on a checked shirt, I think it is unnecessary and looked better without it. 

4. Like Kerrang, I used 3 other images along with the main picture, but in my other 3, i cut them out to make them look like they were coming off the page instead of just a simple image. I also spread them out by putting 2 on the left and 1 on the right, I think this was more effective than the Kerrang magazine, as it split the page up and give it more than one focus point, making the product look more appealing.

1. I have copied the idea of printing the front page onto the context page, but instead of putting it with my editors box, I put it with my subscription box. I think this is a more effective place to put it. 

2. I decided that the pictures in box's looked really good, so I decided to use the idea but instead of using 5 photo's, I used 4, and I also put them in different places. 

3. I have used the idea of the list down the side from Kerrang, but in my magazine, I placed it on the opposite side and I didn't use all the different headings that Kerrang did. I think the Kerrang magazine's list looks more professional, and I can tell out of the two that it is the professional one.

1. I have used the same heading as Kerrang. I have also, like Kerrang, placed my heading in the corner of the page. 

2.When I saw the Kerrang magazine's contents page, the editors message stood out to me, and to get the professional look that I wanted to achieve, I copied the idea. 

3. I have used the same quote as Kerrang magazine, Its a good way of breaking up the page and adding realism. 

4. I think the main photo on the Kerrang  magazine looks good, and it shows a clear main story, I decided to use this idea in my magazine. 

5. Both magazines have columns with the page numbers on it, I liked that they were all in one big list down the side, so used this in my contents page.

1. In the Kerrang magazine, they use a banner at the top, above the masthead, I liked the idea of this, so decided to use it in my magazine, I think it makes it look more professional, and gives me a chance to add more text to my front cover.

2. My slugline is inspired by the one off the Kerrang magazine. I like how it goes over the masthead, it makes it look like a stamp. This is why I have decided to do it to my magazine too.

3.I have brought my main person in the picture to the front, so that the masthead is behind him. Kerrang have also done this.

4. The main picture on the Kerrang magazine, is of 3 men. I decided to use this when it come to my main picture too. I have made my models stand the same as the picture on Kerrang's magazine.

5. I have used white text in the middle of the page to break the picture up, this is what I copied from Kerrang, because I think its effective, as it stands out to the audience.

6. To make my magazine look realistic, I had to put a barcode at the bottom, I copied the placing of where to put it from the Kerrang magazine, and used a box at the bottom for the price and date.

7. I used the paintbrush to make a splodge on the page, Kerrang also did this. I made the colour red to go with the rest of my magazine, but because its red it also resembles blood, which makes the magazine look more 'rock and roll'.

8. When I got feedback off the examiner, they said that I could do with adding more text to my front cover, by making a lift of different bands that include in the band, it adds more text to my page and it also is for the audience, because it will target the audience, and make them want to read about there favourite bands. Kerrand have done this also, but in a different part of the page.
